My background in professional writing is promotional but now that I am enjoying early retirement I write what pleases me and self publish so I don't have to play to an audience or consider the marketplace.

If nobody reads my books, tant pis; if they do I hope they enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed writing them or in the case of my family diaries, editing them. What greater release from the world of commerce could there be?
